WASHINGTON DC + MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
One wedding. A hundred little stories. I’m looking for all of them.
While you’re busy actually getting married, I’m watching everything around you. The look your partner gives you when you’re not paying attention. Your mom trying very hard not to cry. Your best friend absolutely failing at keeping it together. The kid under the table. The completely unhinged moments happening on the dance floor. The people you love being exactly who they are. I want to capture the photographs you remember happening and the ones you had no idea happened at all. That’s the part of wedding photography I love most: finding all the little stories hiding inside the big one.
But I’m not only there to wait for things to happen.
When we step away for portraits, we make something on purpose. Maybe the light is incredible. Maybe the location is weird. Maybe I see something and say, “Okay, this might sound ridiculous, but trust me.” I’ll give you direction when you need it, let you be yourselves when you don’t, and make portraits that actually fit the two of you. Some will be beautiful. Some will be dramatic. Some will make you laugh or me laugh. And if there happens to be a dinosaur nearby, obviously we’re using it.
Okay, now let’s make something freaking good.
I love the moments I can’t control. But I also love the part where I get to take over for a few minutes and make something on purpose. This is where I get excited. A weird patch of light. Wind doing something perfect. Rain. Neon. A staircase. A reflection. An empty street. A completely ordinary corner that suddenly looks incredible from the right angle.
That’s when I’m going to grab you and say, “Let’s go!”
You do not need to know how to pose.
You do not need to practice You do not need to spend an hour away from your wedding pretending to be models. Give me a little time, trust me when I get an idea, and I’ll do the rest. I want portraits that are bold when they should be bold. Quiet when they should be quiet. Romantic without turning you into somebody else. Weird when weird is exactly right. Most importantly, I want them to look like your wedding. Not a pose I’ve already used 200 times. Not somebody else’s Pinterest board. Not two people awkwardly standing in pretty light because that’s apparently what wedding photos are supposed to look like.
I want the kind of portrait that stops you for a second when you see it.
The one that feels completely like you just somehow better than you imagined.
If you hire me, you get me.
Not just the person who shows up with cameras. You get the person who wants to hear what you’re planning, what you’re excited about, what makes your wedding feel like yours, and all the little ideas you’re tossing around along the way. Send me the weird venue idea. The timeline you’re still figuring out. The photo your mom found from her wedding. The thing you absolutely love and want to build the day around. I love that stuff.
That’s probably the same reason I love wedding documentary photography in the first place. I like walking into a world that isn’t mine, figuring out what makes it interesting, and getting completely pulled into it for a while. And on a wedding day, there is so much to get pulled into. The beautiful stuff. The ridiculous stuff. The photograph that makes you yell, “WAIT — when did that happen? The completely unhinged dance floor. I don’t want to hand you a neat little version of your wedding where only the “important” things made the cut. I want to hand you every moment I witnessed from the little ones to the big ones.
And then there are the photographs we make because something about the two of you, the place, the light or the moment gives me an idea I can’t leave alone.
That’s the part I’m always chasing: photographs you couldn’t have planned, mixed in with photographs nobody else would have made quite the same way.
Don't just take my word for it. See the whole story.
A wedding isn't a collection of portfolio images. It's hundreds of moments, people, details and completely unpredictable things happening all at once. Take a look through some real weddings and see how I photograph the whole story.
Let's talk numbers.
Wedding photography averages $5,200.
Every wedding is different. We'll build your coverage around what you're planning, what matters most to you, and how you actually want to spend your wedding day.
Let's make some photographs you'll give a damn about in 20 years.
You've spent months planning this thing. When it's finally here, I want you to actually experience it.
Be with your people. Have the drink. Eat the food. Get on the dance floor.
I'll take care of the photographs.
