It truly depends on your wedding. I photograph most weddings on my own, and for many celebrations, one photographer is all you need. A second photographer can be helpful if you have 150+ guests, you and your partner are getting ready in separate locations, your wedding takes place across multiple venues, or there are several things happening at the same time. They can also capture a second perspective during the ceremony, photograph your guests during cocktail hour while we're taking portraits, and give us more opportunities to catch all the reactions and little moments happening throughout the day. If you're not sure whether you need one, tell me what you're planning and I'll give you an honest recommendation based on your wedding and timeline.

Absolutely! Engagement sessions are $850 and are a great excuse to make some photographs together without a wedding-day timeline in the background.

We can keep it simple, head somewhere meaningful to you, wander around DC, grab a drink, go hiking, bring the dog or come up with something completely different. I'll give you direction when you need it, so there's no expectation that you'll magically know what to do in front of a camera.

Engagement sessions are completely optional, but they're also a great chance for us to work together before the wedding and for you to get comfortable with how I photograph.

Not even a little bit. Most of the people I photograph aren't models and don't spend their weekends practicing engagement poses. I'll give you direction when you need it, find the good light, fix the weird hand situation, and help you look like yourselves rather than two people performing “romance” for a camera. You don't need to know what to do—that's my job.

Every wedding is different, but eight hours is where most couples land. It usually gives us enough time for getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, cocktail hour, reception and plenty of dancing without feeling rushed. Smaller weddings may only need six hours, while weddings with multiple locations, cultural traditions or a packed timeline may benefit from ten. Absolutely. Documentary photography is a big part of how I photograph weddings, but I'm not documentary-only. We'll make the family photographs your parents want, wedding-party photographs, beautiful portraits of the two of you and, when the opportunity presents itself, something epic. I want your gallery to have all of it the photographs we intentionally create and the moments nobody could have planned.

Nope. First looks can be incredibly useful for some timelines and completely unnecessary for others. If seeing each other before the ceremony gives you more time with your guests or makes your day less stressful, I'll explain the benefits. If you've always imagined seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony, do that. Your wedding doesn't need to be rearranged just because something photographs conveniently.

I don't put an arbitrary limit on the number of photographs I deliver. Every wedding is different, so the final number depends on your coverage, guest count and what happens throughout the day. I remove duplicates, test shots and the photographs where someone blinked at exactly the wrong second, then deliver the photographs that actually tell the story of your wedding.

Your complete wedding gallery will be delivered within six weeks of your wedding. Your photographs are individually edited by me and delivered through a private online gallery where you can view, download and share your high-resolution files.

Absolutely. Travel within 75 miles of Mt. Airy, Maryland is included in my wedding pricing, which covers Washington DC, Annapolis, Baltimore, much of Northern Virginia and a large portion of Maryland. Getting married farther away? I've photographed all over the country and around the world, so tell me where we're going and I'll put together the travel details.

Then we photograph a rainy wedding. Some of my favorite photographs have happened when the weather didn't cooperate. I'll watch the forecast, look for covered options and adjust our plans as needed. If there's a five-minute break in the rain and beautiful light outside, I'll probably come find you. Bad weather changes the plan; it doesn't ruin the photographs.

Yes. I've photographed weddings with a wide range of traditions, cultures and religions. Before your wedding, we'll talk about the people, traditions and moments that are particularly important to you so I know what matters and when it's happening. For weddings with multiple ceremonies, large guest counts or several things happening simultaneously, I may recommend additional coverage or a second photographer.

Yes. If your timeline changes and you realize you need additional coverage, we can add time before the wedding. If things are running late on the wedding day and you'd like me to stay longer, no problem! You don't have to know every detail of your timeline when you book.

Start by getting in touch and telling me a little about your wedding. If I'm available and we're a good fit, you'll receive a contract and retainer information to officially reserve your date. Your date isn't booked until the contract and retainer are received.

Absolutely. Wedding albums start at $1,500 and are custom-designed using photographs from your wedding. After your gallery is delivered, you'll choose your favorites and I'll help turn them into an album that tells the story of the day—not just a collection of pretty pictures.

Albums are completely optional. Your wedding photography already includes high-resolution files and personal printing rights, so you never have to purchase an album to get your photographs.
