Zion National Park Wedding Photography
I love Adventure sessions and when Marissa & Raed contacted me about doing their engagement photos in Zion National Park I said... when are we going.
Zion National Park is just truly spectacular. I read a quote once that said you can not describe Zion. You can only experience it. Marissa & Raed fell so much in love with Zion National Park that they made a ritual out of coming here every year for their anniversary. They spend 4 days hiking trails that they love and trying new trails to challenge themselves.
Their most favorite place in Zion is Angel's Landing. A 6 mile round trip hike to one of the most beautiful views in the park... no big deal... only one small challenge... the last half mile you are climbing up the mountain with a 1000ft drop on one side and an 800ft drop on the other. Your trail is a mostly 3ft wide path with one chain. As quoted by a travel site "There's no view more dramatic than what you see hanging onto a chain bolted into a cliff."
When they mentioned going to the top of Angel's Landing I made the mistake of watching videos about the hike. DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEOS. It's not half as scary as the videos make it seem. Watching the videos made me a little nervous because although I am not afraid of heights I am afraid of falling.
We hiked up to just before the final half mile and I had mentioned that maybe we will just stop there and do photos. But with the easiest twist of the wrist Marissa and Raed convinced me to carry on up to the top of the landing. Which was so well worth it!
So we started the morning with Angel's Landing. A 3 mile hike up to the top. Where Marissa and Raed changed into engagement session attire while chipmunks tried to hitch hike in their bag. We spent the majority of the day traveling around Zion National Park hitting some of Marissa & Raed's favorite spots including the Narrows (which the hiked the full 16 mile trail the next day ! ) .
