A Book Lovers Adventure through Washington DC- Washington DC Wedding Photography
I met Paige and Colin on a Sunday in January at their favorite coffee shop. By the end of our meeting we already had the start of the plan for their epic engagement session. We had to work quick because if you remember this past January it was cold as... I mean like negative degrees and at the end of that week in true DC & Maryland crazy weather fashion it would be in the 60's. So we crossed our fingers and set up their session for that following Thursday. And we were so lucky because it was the PERFECT DAY!
When I met with Paige and Colin it was important for them that we told their story. So we picked places that reflected on places that meant something to them. We started in their apartment. Which I have to say I have alot of book loving clients and their apartment decor was awesome. Both Paige and Colin have travelled alot (clients after my own heart) and they had some beautiful artwork from around the world. The also had some unique book holders to display their book collections! Their apartment was seriously the coolest and totally reflected them! As we were finishing up in their apartment we had a surprise guest... their adorable pit Brody!!! After a little Whip Cream inspiration Brody (@brodykingofbeasts) was ready for the shoot too! So we all took off together for their favorite coffee shop the Colony Club.
After a little coffee we brought Brody home and headed on our DC adventure. The first stop was a new spot for me Blagden Alley. It's also my new favorite spot in DC. The unique industrial look along with street art made for some really cool photo ops!
After Blagden Alley we rushed over to the National Art Galleries. Another one of my favorite places to shoot in DC. The different pieces of artwork and of course the Star Wars style walkway are so much fun to shoot!
As I said earlier Paige and Colin love to travel. In fact, they got engaged in Switzerland in the same place where Paige's Mom and Dad got engaged. So it was natural that we went over to DCA for some photos in the airport!
Now your thinking wow, they have been so many places... They must have finished up at the airport and went home... No way! We still had two more stops (Plus the sun sets at 5:30 in January so it seems alot later then it was. We grabbed some quick Chick Fila to get our energy up and then headed on to our next stop. The Lincoln Memorial. We had a real special treat when we got there. The reflecting pool was completely frozen over ! After a little persuading Colin and I convinced Paige that she wasn't going to fall in and we slipped and slid our way on the reflecting pool for some amazing shots in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
Are last stop was Politics and Prose one of DC's best bookstores. In the days of Amazon and digital books its so nice to walk through a real bookstore. I personally still love to have a real book in my hand when I read and so do Colin & Paige. So we finished up our night amongst one of their favorite things... Books! And now the countdown begins to their wedding at the Peabody!
